DIY Leave Earrings

Hi there,

I´ve stubled about a new trend this spring. Earrings with studs but another earring piece coming from behind the stud and hugging the ear. It looks intresting and adds a nice touch to farely simple stud earrings. I allways wanted to customise those kind of earrings but felt stopped by the lack of material to form the back part off. Now I remembered working with fimo. It´s a dough like material that will harden after some baking time in the oven. For the fall season I thought why not make some fall inspired ones. So I came across the idea of using leaves. Little tiny ones for a dainty look.

You´ll need:

Different kinds of FIMO (I used soft in skin colour and effect in copper)

Hot glue gun

scalpel and plain earring studs

What to do:
  • mold the fimo until its soft
  • place it onto some wax paper
  • mold different kinds of leaves, take inspiration from the interent or the outside
  • first cut out the generalshape of the leave
  • then mold it into a more detailed shape
  • finally  add some texture like the inside of a leave
  • for the back part mold a shape like shown on the picture (measure it and hold it onto your ear to find the right length)
  • heat oven to temeprature needed (its said on the package of the FIMO)
  • bake it for the time needed
  • let it cool over night to fully harden through
  • now you can attach the leaves to the desired position and hot glue it on the stud as well as on the back part
  • after some cooling time first put on the stud than insert the back part to the back of the stud and finally add the closure to bind it all together

And there you have it a slightly different earring and a perfect fall accesoire.

Hope you enjoyed the DIY

Until next time

Have a nice day
