Something alongside the new year

Expectations and realities for 2016

Fresh year and fresher expectations. Almost everyone expects something from a new year. It should be louder, quieter, easier, fulfilling. Sometimes all and other times nothing.
Its basically one day crossed and everything should change. On one side its a good thing. People, even if its just for some short time, get up and think about their past year and about their future.
Its easy to get lost during the middle of the year. Spring and summer are both light and airy but fall and winter press harder on the chest. You sometimes feel empty, more thoughtful but also grounded.

And then theres the huge build up to christmas. Loads of food, gifts, time with your dearest people.
Between the years is a very rare time in the year, even though these days are normal days as any others around the year. But the tension before christmas and the huge hole afterwards often lead a to minor reflection crisis.

You question yourself. How was your year? Have you been successful? Self-loving? One step closer to the perfect YOU? One takes you to the other and sometimes the year seemed to be never ending but anyway now its gonna be over.
Sometimes, a little bit self reflection isn't bad. People forget about it easily and why blame them? Its so much easier without it. And I didn't mean people who are happy with themselves or their life. Its not meant to bring you down. It should lead you forward. To work on yourself, your environment and your expectations.

And I dind´t ment to talk about new years resolutions, because we all know these are so fast broken, you can´t even tell. No. I talk about real ambitions. And these dint have to be physical visible for others. If they are just for yourself, thats totally fine.

And thats the matter of self reflection. Its for yourSELF. And yes you are allowed to reflect on yourself and NO that doesn't mean you are an egoist.
I love to be in a big, uplifting crowd (Thats what you get if you have a big family). But I am also a lover of "me-time". And that doesn't mean I am an egoist. Its for me. Yes. But no one other gets harmed through it.

So why don't we just call the new years resolutions a little time for self-reflection and maybe a little pat on your own shoulder. For the things you have achieved and for the things you want to achieve.
Be proud of those things a be conscious about the things
to come.

Until next time,

See you
